Historical Head Coaches
Sprayberry has a rich heritage in Wrestling since it's inception in 1952. Many of the coaches and instructors currently involved with the sport today, came through the Sprayberry program. We are very proud of the men that have lead this organization.
DAVID CHURCH

FRANK KELLER
1975 - 1993 (19 years) Returning to the helm during the 1974-75 season, Coach Keller establishes a new wrestling facility and begins to host the County Championship Tournament. During this first season the Varsity program earns an 8-2-1 record. The Junior Varsity program earns a perfect 8-0-0 record. Keller establishes the "Mat Maid" program at Sprayberry.
Keller, was considered the heart of Sprayberry wrestling and has been inducted into the National Wrestling Hall of Fame, coached the team in 1968 and again from 1975-1993. Under Keller's tutelage, the Yellow Jackets captured nine region championships and twice placed second at the state traditional meet. The team also won the Cobb County Championship in 1977 and '78. |
FRANK KELLER
1968 Coach Frank Keller takes control as Head Coach of the Yellow Jackets in 1968. In Keller's first season, his team obtains an impressive record of 8-1-1. The team brings home the first Cobb County wrestling trophy as it takes 2nd place in the North West GA Invitational.
At the North West GA Invitational, Sprayberry brought home (4) 1st Place Gold Medals and (1) 3rd Place Bronze Medal. |
BARNARD HOLT
1966 - 1967 Coach Barnard Holt has been a part of the coaching staff since 1064 and takes over the reigns of the Wrestling Squad for the 1966 school year.
Over the past several years, the Yellow Jacket fans and fans from Cobb County have continued to support ant enjoy the sports of wrestling. Base on recent success, it is believe that many of the other Cobb County schools will start wrestling programs. |
ROBERT L. McKINNEY
1964 - 1965 Coach Robert McKinney takes over the reigns of the Wrestling Squad for the 1964 school year. The Squad supports a record of 2-6 against teams from the following schools: Grady, Sandy Springs, Dykes, Roosevelt, West Rome, GMA, Lovette, Headland Westminster Avondale. In 1965 the team records its best record so far at 5-5.
